Hedge announces Mimiq acquisition, iodyne hardware partnership and iconik® transcoding integration with EditReady

Mimiq acquisition boosts Hedge’s Avid collaboration

Mimiq, the industry-leading Avid bin-locking technology, has joined the Hedge software family, where it will expand Hedge’s range of collaborative tools. The software, acquired from Indiestor, will continue to be developed, enhanced and supported by Hedge, and existing Mimiq users will become part of the wider Hedge support family, receiving multi-continent, rapid support.

As a result of the acquisition, Hedge becomes the only company to offer Bin Locking for Media Composer on both Mac and Windows - the key to collaborative editing - without having to buy expensive proprietary hardware. Roll out your own shared storage, and take advantage of the wide range of cost-effective storage options available at realistic prices,

Mimiq will also receive Hedge’s flexible licensing options, making it cheaper for many existing customers, and is fully compatible with Apple silicon - another industry-first.

Hedge provides super-fast and safe copy management for iodyne’s Pro Data leading-edge storage appliance

iodyne’s Pro Data is an ultra-fast NVMe storage appliance with full redundancy. Pitched at mobile editing applications where speed is paramount, its eight Thunderbolt ports can be combined for faster connections or shared between computers. With an architecture designed for maximum data transfer rates, it is a portable storage powerhouse.

iodyne has partnered with Hedge to maximise Pro Data’s potential because no other software has the same combination of speed and safety with valuable media content. With Hedge’s Fast Lane copy engine and Checkpoint verification engine, Pro data can function at its maximum speed while guaranteeing that copies are made quickly and fully verified.

Hedge brings EditReady’s transcoding talents to iconik

Hedge has already integrated with iconik® to provide an easy way to combine Hedge’s speed and verification talents with the cloud-based MAM service. Hedge allows users to create metadata directly compatible with iconik’s ecosystem, eliminating renaming and speeding up the process dramatically.

Hedge has now engineered another leap in functionality, courtesy of a new integration between EditReady and iconik.

EditReady enables iconik users to convert between a comprehensive list of file formats and view that media from within their iconik session, even if the original format was a camera manufacturer’s RAW file.

EditReady is a fast, streamlined media transcoding engine supporting all significant video codecs. It’s also a great way to view media files in native or transcoded formats. With support for colour-space translation, camera manufacturer’s Log formats, and HDR, EditReady’s iconik integration significantly boosts iconik’s multi-format capabilities - all from within the iconik Storage Gateway:

  • Increased transcoding speed
  • Camera spanning detection and clip merging
  • More formats - including ARRI RAW, Codex HDE, Blackmagic RAW, Sony X-OCN & RAW and Canon CRM
